Rodrigo Lima Faliveni is a MSc in International Development Studies from Wageningen University in the Netherlands and a BSc in Political Science from “Universidad de la República” in Uruguay. His academic and professional focus lies in democratic governance, public policy, and institutional development. His MSc thesis examined the autocratization process in Peru and the impact on the development of the country, reflecting on the deep and complex link between regime types and development. He has been professionally involved in projects on global democracy promotion and advocacy, enhancement of local democracy and programs related to development and democratic governance. Rodrigo is also a dedicated associate of Democracy Without Borders since 2024, focusing mostly on outreach initiatives in Latin America and actively participates in initiatives to support democracy globally. In particular, he authored a research brief mapping the proposed mandate of a UN Special Rapporteur on Democracy.
