Global People’s Assembly 2021

21–23 Sep 2021

GCAP and others
Online

On the occasion of the high-level week of the 76th UN General Assembly, Global Call to Action Against Poverty in collaboration with numerous civil society organizations, among them Democracy Without Borders, will host a virtual Global People’s Assembly.

The assembly will be a space for all participants to review the structural reasons for social, environment and economic inequalities and injustices during the COVID-19 crisis and beyond, to plan and develop collaborative actions in order to prevent austerity and to create systemic change that will achieve the 2030 Agenda, the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement.

We wish to highlight the opening plenary on Tuesday 21st and the agenda item following immediately afterwards titled “Decade of Action” that will include an analysis of the recent UN report Our Common Agenda as well as the action session on UN reform and the We The Peoples campaign on Thursday 23rd (more on the latter here).

This initiative builds upon the People’s Assembly 2019 where 300 participants from 80 countries produced the 2019 declaration.

A list of sessions is included in this registration form.
